Oil jars
In this space you can see two large oil jars in which the lampante oil was deposited.
We must remember that before electricity, all the lighting in the palace consisted of candles and oil lamps.
The Mencos family owned several olive groves in Tafalla and on the Montecillo estate in Milagro (Navarre) and sold their own oil. These ancient vats were carved by hand in the same place.
Olive oil was used for lighting until the 19th century, when it was replaced by the oil lamp and later by electricity.
