Some CURIOSITIES

The well and the Gothic arches

In one corner of the courtyard is the well of the house, a deep and laborious stone construction used for centuries to provide water for all the staff and livestock of the palace.

These stone arches of Gothic design have recently been installed, but their provenance is unknown. They could be from the royal palace of Tafalla, as well as from the convent of San Francisco, but we are inclined to believe that they are from the old Gothic hermitage in the ‘Parque del Conde’, the former orchard of the house.

This hermitage, which has now disappeared, and of which only the historical fact remains of the assassination of the Bishop of Pamplona by Mosém Pierres de Peralta in 1468, in front of this hermitage.
